Almost everyone knows someone with diminishing sight: a friend, a neighbor, a parent. Vision impairments, physical and cognitive disabilities and numerous health conditions can reduce one's ability to use printed materials like newspapers, magazines, voter guides, advertisements and flyers.

A growing number of people, largely the aging senior population, are losing the ability to read. This can severely impair one's independence and lead to isolation. IAAIS and its 100+ member services work worldwide to deliver the joy and benefit of reading, increasing a listener's capacity to lead a full and productive life.

IAAIS is an association of independently operated, volunteer-driven services that use audio technology to turn print into speech, bringing the words alive. IAAIS encourages the establishment and preservation of audio information/radio reading services as a cost-effective means of providing people with date-sensitive information and programming developed to enrich the lives of consumers.
